67.000 trees planted.
The Amelia farm is the first plantation established under the Nicaforest High Impact Reforestation Program. The Shared Benefit Agrement with the Cruz- brothers where signed in January 2011, and preparation of the land started early April same year.
More than 67.000 teak-trees, of which 50% where clones of the best genetic material, where planted during the planting season (june-october). More than 40 people where employed during planting.
In the Amelia farm we also tested the effects of growing beans between the rows of teak seedlings. More that 15 hectars where planted, with very good results. The soil-properties are enhanced through the added nitrogen from the bean plants.
